The events of September 11 have affected all of us. There are no words that can express the grief we share. I know each of us is searching for some way to respond to this attack on our country. I believe we must recommit ourselves to the premise "that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth." One simple way to reject terrorism and to defend this country is to vote, to participate in the most fundamental freedom we have, the freedom to choose the leaders who govern us.

I urge everyone to reject terror, to reject fear and to embrace freedom by voting on Nov. 6.
