Listed below are some links that I use frequently and that offer information about the challenges that face Nags Head. They include local government links, North Carolina resources, Outer Banks resources and links that relate to issues like water quality and managing growth.
  • Town of Nags Head This is the official Town of Nags Head web site. It contains a host of information about the town and the issues that face it. You can explore our Septic Health Initiative, the town budget and agendas from past meetings. The agenda for Board of Commissioner meetings is posted the Friday before the Wed. meeting with all the support information.

  • Dare County This is the site for Dare County. It includes budget information, agendas and e-mail addresses for many county leaders.

  • NC Institute of Government This organization supports local governments with advice on issues from finance to planning to public safety. The faculty contains some of the worlds leading experts in Public Administration. The site contains many useful resources including articles from the magazine Popular Government.

  • Outer Banks Sentinel This is the best local news site on the beach. It contains the best articles from the twice weekly Outer Banks Sentinel newspaper.

  • North Carolina League of Municipalities This is the state municipal league. It offers services to cities and towns across the state. It also lobbies for municipal issues in the State Legislature. I serve on the NCLM Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Policy Committee.

  • The New Commissioner Handbook This site from the Municipal Research & Services Center of Washington offers excellent advice for the newly elected (or experienced) elected official. It has a orientation toward county government and some of it is specific to Washington state, but a great deal of it is relevant to the problems faced by elected officials in Nags Head.

  • The Planning Commissioners Journal This excellent site focuses on land use planning and zoning. It has articles on a wide variety of topics and is extremely easy to use.

  • EPA Decentralized Wasterwater section This is the national site for programs like Nags Head Septic Health Initiative.
